03. Employment Law

Workplace Discrimination

There are both state and federal laws that prohibit race discrimination and gender discrimination. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a federal law which bans discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin, applying to employers with 15 or more  employees. Michigan’s Elliott Larsen Civil Rights Act prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age (any age), height, weight, or marital status, regardless of how many employees work for the employer.
